Tears flow when you let go

It's not uncommon for me to experience tears flowing during yoga. Why is that, one or the other may ask.

Let's take the large hip flexor, called the psoas. The muscle that connects the spine to the legs. It allows us to walk upright; if it is shortened, we bend forward.

If the psoas is tense, this can manifest itself, for example, in back pain, sciatica, knee pain, menstrual cramps or digestive problems.

The psoas is a stress muscle. It is connected to the diaphragm by fascia. When breathing stops (due to anxiety or stress), the diaphragm tightens and transmits this fear reflex directly to the psoas. The same also happens in reverse.

When we are under stress, we unconsciously contract the psoas. This state of tension also affects our breathing. In principle, the psoas is something like an inner stress barometer and is therefore also considered a soul muscle.

Unfortunately, it is extremely tense and shortened for most people - and from sitting too much.

If we are in the position of the dove in yoga for a long time, which stretches the psoas and helps to let go of fear and tension, emotional blockages are released along with the physical ones

And sometimes there are tears that mean something very positive: Emotions that have settled in the smallest cells of the body are dissolving.

Letting go takes strength and is a gift. 🕊️

What was the last thing you released?

Yours
